Lampshade Turns Your Walls Into a Fairytale Forest

'Forms In Nature' is a light sculpture by artists and designers Hilden & Diaz which transforms a room into a fairytale setting, or a scary forest, depending on your state of mind. This magnificent chandelier is partly inspired by the mirrored drawings of the natural world by Ernst Haeckel.

Ernst Haeckel was a 19th century artist, philosopher and professor who had a deep interest in the natural world. His beautifully detailed illustrations of sea creatures, insects, plants and animals have survived over a century of change and are still hailed as among the best nature illustrations that exist to this day.

Hilden & Diaz' fascination with mirrorings, have previously been applied to their other artworks, the roots and branches in 'Forms in Nature' are mirrored around its central axis, mirrorings are thrown out upon the walls and ceilings and provide weak Rorschach-like hints of faces amongst the gnarled shadows.

Hilden & Diaz is a collaboration between the artists Thyra Hilden and Pio Diaz.

In 2005, the two artists founded the partnership Hilden & Diaz and gathered their artistic interests. Thyra Hilden came from exploring existential ambiguity in her photographs and video installations and Pio Diaz worked with political and social critique through interventions in public space.
